This summer I’m headed to Doha, Qatar as a hybrid professional development experience/personal adventure. I’ve been learning Arabic since September in preparation, and am looking forward to exploring the city, marveling at architectural elements, taking photographs, and learning to speak Arabic (and not just read/write it). The opportunity to walk around in 140 degree weather is just a bonus!
Back in the States, I work as a Program Manager and Director of Research Initiatives at Academic Programs International, advising students attending study abroad programs in Argentina, Chile, Mexico, Qatar, Spain (Barcelona & Bilbao), and Sharjah (UAE). I spend a lot of my free time making art – recently I’ve been focusing on film photography, splashing around my darkroom, and designing costumes for the local Samba school.
Places I’ve been:
(also many cities in 49 U.S. States, didn’t bother to pin those)
Your blog is awesome! I really enjoy reading it. Arabic is so difficult to learn beyond reading and writing. Keep up the good work!
